Dorsal soft rays (total): 10 - 13; Anal soft rays: 8 - 11. Small maxillary barbels; body depth 2.5-2.7 times in SL (Ref. 43281).

    In subfamily Acheilognathinae (Genera Acheilognathus and Rhodeus ), female possesses an ovipositor which is used for depositing eggs inside the bivalves. Juveniles hatch and stay in the bivalve until they can swim (Ref. 43281).
