• Eastern Central Pacific: Hawaii, Johnston Islands, Tonga, Samoa, Rarotonga, Tahiti, Marquesas, and Easter Island. Southern "population" may belong to closely related undescribed species.

Biology

Inhabits neritic surface waters, most abundant off oceanic islands (Ref. 9839). Feeds on zooplanktons (Ref. 89972).
