  • Europe: Estonia and Russia in Lakes Peipus, Teploe [Lammijarv] and Pskov. Enters Lake Witzerv [Võrtsjärv] through a connecting river for spawning. Introduced in Lake Burtneck (Latvia), drifted to Gulf of Riga; introduced in many lakes of northern Russia, Poland, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, in lakes in the Urals Region of Russia, Lakes Sevan (Armenia) and Balkash (Kasakhstan), but established only in a few (Ref. 59043); and Belarus (Ref. 59042). Considered vulnerable (Ref. 59043).

    Inhabits lakes and rivers. Spawns mainly in southern coastal part of Lake Peipus and northern part of Lake Teploe, but also enters some rivers to spawn (Ref. 59043).
