Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 10. This species differs from all its congeners in the eastern Pacific by having the following characters: 2 basicaudal scales; D2 typically I,11; numerous branched caudal rays 12-15; with a longitudinal dark stripe on head (Ref. 87125).
