Description

Distribution. Widely distributed in the Western Pacific, in Japan, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Indonesia, Vanuatu (summarised in Kaas & Van Belle 1985; see also Sigwart 2009 b); 121 – 1767 m. Material studied here represents the deepest records for the species, from the Philippines at 1750 – 1767 m (Panglao 2005 sta. CP 2353) and 1764 m (Panglao 2005 sta. CP 2356). Locally abundant species and common on sunken wood.
