Description
Dorsal spines (total): 1; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 10 - 11; Vertebrae: 32 - 33. Diagnosis: body depth slightly less than its greatest width; head depressed with a somewhat rugose upper surface; snout broadly rounded; nostril nearer end of snout than to eye; buccal cleft straight; mandibular tooth band less than half as long antero-posteriorly as premaxillary tooth band; maxillary barbel reaching to half of head length and at least twice as long as mandibular barbels; humeral process striated and acutely pointed; adipose fin almost 3 times as long as deep; anal fin with 10-11 rays, 1st and occasionally 2nd rays rudimentary; pectoral spine, strong, striated and strongly serrated along posterior margin; pelvic fin reaching almost to anal fin origin; caudal peduncle 1.5 times as long as deep (Ref. 81251). Coloration: body mottled brown with small dark spots on sides and dorsal surface of body; 2 dark bands present on posterior half of body (1 between adipose and anal fin and 1 on caudal peduncle); pectoral fin darkly pigmented along base of fin rays; distal half of pelvic and anal fin rays lightly pigmented; caudal fin with 2 dark bands, 1 at base and another at tips of fin rays (Ref. 81251).
