  • Western Atlantic: Florida, USA and Bahamas to Argentina. Reported in northeastern Brazil (Ref. 81923).

    • Biology

    Inhabits turtle-grass beds, usually in coves on the seaward sides of islands (Ref. 5521). Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205).
