Description


Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Vertebrae: 31. Differs from its congeners from Western Ghats mountain ranges of peninsular India by having the following characters: pompous size, broad and round central pad of the sucking disc and almost a horse shoe shaped swelling in front and on sides of median pad; snout broadly rounded with deep transverse groove with pointed tubercles arranged irregularly but approximately three rows in each side; proboscis absent; 30-31 scales on lateral line; 15-16 scales around caudal peduncle; 4.5/2.5/3.5 transverse-scale rows; well developed scales present up to chest region (Ref. 96640).
