Description


Dorsal soft rays (total): 11; Anal soft rays: 7 - 8. Distinguished by having the following combination of characters: snout rounded in dorsal profile with weakly developed transverse groove; groove with pointed tubercles arranged irregularly but approximately in three rows across; snout not elongated as proboscis; two pairs of barbels, both rostral and maxillary; 36-37 scale rows on lateral line; 16 circumpeduncular scale rows; 4.5/3.5/4.5 transverse-scale rows; well developed scale rows present up to pectoral-fin insertion and embedded scale rows present after pectoral-fin insertion up to pelvic-fin insertion (Ref. 96639).
