Dorsal spines (total): 4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 7. Has distinctive dorsal fin with large pale-edged black ocellus between 3rd and 4th spine, and barred pattern below cheek (Ref. 48636).
