Hypostomus ericius Armbruster, 2003

Description

Diagnosed from all other members of the Hypostomus cochliodon group by its coloration: light tan-gray with well-separated spots and no stripes. Differs from H. hemicochliodon by lacking a buccal papilla, and from H. pyrineusi by the presence of strong, sharp keels on the lateral plates. This is mostly similar to H. oculeus from which it differs mainly in coloration and morphometrics (Ref. 50589).
